HOME-START BARNET
Home-Start Barnet, Brent, Enfield and Harrow is an independent charity which is part of the Home-Start UK network. We work with parents with at least one child under the age of 5 who are struggling with the challenges that being a parent can bring.
At the heart of our work is home visiting volunteer support. Families struggling with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement, and many other issues receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around two hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need. All our services are based around the principle that volunteers offer no judgement, just compassionate, confidential help and support.
We also offer a wide range of other services, from perinatal mental health support and practical advice on managing household finances, to groups and events for families, and parenting programmes for families with older children.
We welcome self-referrals as well as referrals from professionals such as midwives, health visitors and GPs.

Partaking in Fun Run is our way of building the networks within the communities in which we work. The money raised from the event will go towards providing counselling for families who are struggling with mental health challenges because of the particular hardships they have faced during the pandemic. From a recent Home-Start UK report, we know that twice as many low income families (under £16,000 p.a.) are not optimistic about life after lockdown compared with those earning more (over £30,000 p.a.). The funds raised from Fun Run will allow us to be the support these families need right now.
